Ilana M. Ventura

PhD Candidate in Sociology, University of Chicago

Ilana is a PhD Candidate in sociology at the University of Chicago and a Research Methodologist at NORC at the University of Chicago. Trained as a sociologist, demographer, and survey researcher, Ilana's interests cover three primary domains: (1) Immigration/ Latinos, (2) Family and care, (3) Survey methods.


Ilana's dissertation is a mixed-method comparative study of identity formation and the transnational lives of the Latino first and second-generation in the US, with a focus on transnational property ownership and wealth. Her work has been supported by the National Institute on Aging (T32AG000243), the Allison Davis Research Award/ Mellon Foundation, Russell Sage Foundation, and the University of Chicago Mansuetto Institute.
